Siem Reap is a small town in Cambodia as well as the gateway to visit the 1000 year-old ancient temples of Angkor Wat Region of Khmer Empire, which was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Siem Reap originally was the province named Siem Nakhon (Siem City), and then again changed to Siem Reap. The name Siem Reap means “Flat Defeat of Siam”, referring to the victory of Khmer Empire against Thailand army under the leading of Ayutthaya King in 17th Century. Today, Siem Reap become a famous tourist destination because it is near Angkor Wat Region.

Siem Reap offers to travellers the night market and Western Streer where people sell souvenirs, from terracotta Angkor’s figures to colorful scarves, ashtrays that were carved meticulously or silver ornaments, gold glittering colors. Fruits at the market are also very cheap and very tasty. Visitors can also experience an enjoyable eveningmeal and enjoy Apsara’s dance fully enamored and charm. When traditional music turns on, young girls with colorful dress, flexibly step outside with a royal dance.
Siem Reap has many airlines that sell flight tickets to Siem Reap at Angkor International Airport, near Angkor Wat Region, including Vietnam Airlines, Jet Air, or Vietjet Air… Bus travel is now the most popular means of overland transport between Vietnam and Cambodia. Takes more time but it is cheaper and actually not bad at all. You can find lots of travel offices and hotels offering these bus trips.
